Ukraine's Agriculture Minister Resumes Duties After Paying $1.9 Mln Bail in Corruption Case

Ukraine's Agriculture Minister Mykola Solsky returned to his duties after posting nearly a $2 million in bail, the Ukrainian ministry announced on Friday.

The minister stayed in custody earlier on Friday after being named a suspect in a massive corruption case.

The ministry announced on social media: "Mykola Solsky has been released from custody and continues to perform his duties," his ministry announced on social media.

Solsky was accused of illegally seizing land worth more than $7 million during his run as head of a farming company and a member of parliament.

After his accusation, Solsky submitted his resignation and promised to cooperate with the authorities. 

The chairman of the parliament said lawmakers would consider the resignation request at one of their next sessions.

The court in the Kyiv ordered him to be held in custody until June 24 and a $1.9 million bail.

Solsky owned several farming companies, and was elected to Ukraine's parliament in 2019. He held the position of Agriculture Minister in March 2022.
