A Ukrainian security official said on Friday that Kyiv carried out a strike on an oil facility at Russia’s Novorossiysk port on the Black Sea, marking another escalation in Ukraine’s campaign to hit critical Russian energy infrastructure.
The official stated that “every refinery or oil terminal targeted represents a loss for Russia,” highlighting Ukraine’s strategy of undermining Moscow’s energy revenue and logistics.
Earlier in the day, two industry sources reported that Novorossiysk halted oil exports following a drone attack, prompting Transneft, the operator of Russia’s main oil pipeline system, to suspend crude supplies to the terminal.
According to two additional sources familiar with operations, the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) — which transports Kazakh oil through the Russian Black Sea terminal — briefly stopped loading but later resumed activity. However, they noted that Russian crude deliveries from a nearby loading berth remained suspended after the attack.
The strike adds pressure to one of Russia’s most strategic export hubs, as Kyiv continues to expand the range of long-distance drone operations targeting energy and military sites deep inside Russian territory.
