Britain has announced plans to dispatch a Royal Navy vessel to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip.

Defense Minister Grant Shapps stated that the ship is en route to the eastern Mediterranean to support international efforts in providing vital aid to Gaza.

This initiative aims to reinforce the international maritime humanitarian corridor from Cyprus to Gaza, supported by various partners and the United Nations, according to Foreign Secretary David Cameron.

Cameron also mentioned the possibility of establishing a new temporary pier off the coast of Gaza to expedite aid delivery.

The Foreign Ministry pledged to provide up to £9.7 million ($11.30 million) for aid delivery, logistical expertise, and supplying the humanitarian corridor with the necessary equipment. The objective is to increase aid levels to reach those most in need.

Cyprus, the country nearest to Gaza in the EU, has been advocating for the creation of a maritime corridor for aid transportation.

Earlier this year, ships from the Spanish non-governmental organization Open Arms delivered aid to Gaza.

However, Cameron emphasized that Britain's support for Israel is not unconditional and expects Israel to adhere to international humanitarian law.

Cameron expressed concern over the tragic deaths of seven humanitarian workers in Gaza, including three Britons, in Israeli drone strikes, stressing the need to prevent such incidents in the future.
