British Prime Minister Boris Johnson praised efforts made by doctors at St. Thomas Hospital in London and expressed his "gratitude" for the care they had given to him, saying that he owed them his life.
"I cannot thank them more," said Boris Johnson, after "perfect" care he received from doctors and nurses during his treatment from the novel coronavirus.
“I owe them my life,” Johnson said.
The British Prime Minister spent, on Saturday, his seventh night in St. Thomas Hospital in the British capital, after entering it last Sunday following a deterioration of his health, following 10 days of domestic self-isolation after the positive result of infection with the COVID-19 virus, which killed more than 9900 Britons and infected about 80 thousand others.
Johnson remained in intensive care for 3 nights, then was transferred to the normal hospital ward after recovering from a difficult period of illness.
Earlier on Saturday, the British Prime Minister's office said that the 55-year-old Johnson was making "very good progress" in his recovery after being transferred from intensive care, and that he was playing games and watching movies from his hospital bed, according to Sky News Website.
Reports indicated that, since leaving intensive care, the Prime Minister managed to take short walks between rest periods while being treated in the normal ward.
It is worth noting that till this moment no one knows when Johnson will leave the hospital.
The UK government is supposed to decide this week to extend the isolation period that started on March 23 for three weeks, which ends on Monday.
Although a formal decision will not be reached now, the authorities continue to warn of inaction in the measures of social separation, especially during the Easter weekend.
The epidemic has so far claimed about 9,000 lives in the UK, one of the European countries most affected by the virus.
