On Friday, Conor McGregor said that a broken toe is the reason for preventing him from fighting Michael Chandler next week in UFC 303, Las Vegas.
McGregor was set for facing Chandler at UFC 303 next week, but UFC President Dana White announced earlier this month that the fight is cancelled.
The nature of McGregor's injury was not identified until Friday, when McGregor announced it on social media.
He posted on Instagram: "Man we were so f---ing super ready for this fight it is absolutely gut wrenching to take,"
The UFC fighter added:"... We had a lapse in concentration and engaged in a training session without wearing the full protective gear and I hit the toe off the elbow and broke the toe clean. It needs a few weeks that's it. I couldn't just justify to my team, or fans, that I make the walk hindered again."
UFC booked a light heavyweight title fight between Alex Pereira and JiYí Procházka to headline UFC 303 instead of the cancelled game.
