UEFA has imposed financial sanctions on FC Barcelona following incidents during their UEFA Champions League meeting with SK Slavia Prague on January 21.

The Catalan club were fined a total of €30,500 over two separate violations during the penultimate round of the league phase.

Barcelona were ordered to pay €15,500 after their supporters ignited fireworks inside the stadium. An additional €15,000 fine was handed down due to the team’s delayed entrance onto the pitch before kick-off.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the delay was attributed to head coach Hansi Flick.

The German manager received an official warning and could face further disciplinary action from UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body in the event of a repeat offense.

Slavia Prague were also fined €40,000. Half of that amount (€20,000) was for preventing supporters from leaving the stadium, while the remaining €20,000 was issued for the use of pyrotechnics.

On the pitch, Barcelona secured an entertaining 4-2 victory and finished fifth in the league phase standings, booking direct qualification to the Champions League Round of 16.

Despite the sporting success, the disciplinary measures serve as a reminder of UEFA’s strict regulations regarding crowd control and match organization.
