The General Emergency and Crisis Authority in the UAE announced the reopening of mosques to perform Friday prayers, starting from December 4, following several precautionary measures.

The measures include permitting a capacity of 30%, allowing prayers in the outer courtyards of mosques, with transmitting the sermon by loudspeakers, taking into account the safe distance of separation, which is two meters, and regulating entry and exit movement.

The duration of the sermon with prayer will not exceed 10 minutes, and the workers in mosques and volunteer teams will organize the entry and exit of the worshipers.

Also, all worshipers must wear a mask and bring a special rug for prayer and not leave it in the mosques or share it with anyone else.

The authority announced the amendment of the times of the daily prayers so that they are 15 minutes before the prayer, and 10 minutes after the prayer, except for the sunset prayer, which will be 5 minutes before the prayer.

The authority indicated the necessity of performing ablution at home, avoiding the presence of senior citizens, residents, children, those with chronic diseases and those suffering from respiratory diseases.

Since believers can perform their prayers at home, as they pray Zuhr instead of Friday, based on a recommendation from the Emirates Council for Sharia Fatwa.

The authority noted the commitment to reading the Qur’an from the personal copy of Qur’an or smart devices, as well as downloading the health follow-up applications approved in the country and activating them upon attending the mosque.
