Sharif Al Olama, the UAE's Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, said the country will install more than 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by the end of 2025. The initiative aims to support clean transport and reduce carbon emissions.

Al Olama noted that the ministry has already installed more than 100 chargers across the country in 2024. He emphasised the rapid expansion of the network to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles. This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS, which is also a partner of Sada El Balad.

According to Al Olama, the initiative is being implemented through an integrated approach that includes co-operation with the private sector and local governments, which will provide the reliable infrastructure needed for the widespread adoption of electric vehicles.

Furthermore, Al Olama added that the ministry plans to increase renewable energy capacity to more than 14 gigawatts by 2030, which is part of a broader strategy to develop clean energy in the country.
