On Wednesday, the U.S. ambassador to Cairo Jonathan Cohen, said that Egypt is a big market and has an influential and important role in the continental and regional levels, expressing his country's keenness to deepen economic cooperation with Egypt and inject new investments in the Arab country.

In a speech during the signing ceremony of a joint cooperation agreement between the US chambers of commerce in Egypt, Greece and Cyprus, Cohen voiced his happiness over the agreement, which supports stability in the eastern Mediterranean region, highlighting the pivotal role of the private sector in creating further development, stability and prosperity in the three countries.

He added: "We encourage the Egyptian government and the business community to increase cooperation and seek new investments through the active role of chambers and the business community."

"A new era of collaboration begins today with the American Chambers of Commerce in Egypt, Cyprus and Greece by signing a ground breaking agreement that reflects the three countries tremendous history and amazing opportunities," the ambassador noted.

He stated that the MoU is set to create a framework for joint collaboration between the three AmCham organisations, given their common objectives in representing the interest of their respective business communities. It will also help realize the economic benefits that could be generated for the regions.

The signing ceremony was attended by the presidents of the three respective chambers participating, alongside the Ambassadors of Cyprus, Greece and Egypt to the three countries.
