China’s Commerce Ministry said on Thursday that U.S. must lift the existing tariffs before inking a trade deal between Beijing and Washington, Reuters reported.

The U.S. President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping have agreed during their meeting on the sidelines of G20 summit hosted in Japan, on relaunching  trade talks that were obstructed in May after U.S. officials accused China of pulling back from commitments made in the pact text.

“Trade teams from both countries are in contact,” Commerce Ministry spokesman Gao Feng announced.

The U.S. now has tariffs of 25% on $250 billion of Chinese goods, including: furniture and semiconductors.
