Two Egyptians Run in European Parliament Elections

Two young Egyptians abroad have appeared in the list of candidates in more than one country in the EU parliamentarian elections are expected to be held in May 26,

Ahmed Abdel Hamid, an Egyptian candidate, was nominated by a Greek party to run in the European Parliamentary elections. He joins Maisara Soliman, the other Egyptian candidate in Austria, who is running in the elections.

Abdel Hamid managed to enter the political arena in Greece, as he seeks to represent Egypt in the European Parliament.

Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Ambassador Nabila Makram called upon the Egyptian community in Greece to swarm polling stations to back Abdel Hamid as it is a national duty.

“He will add weight to Egypt, so we must support him,” Makram said.

On his part, the Egyptian candidate expressed his happiness for this support.

Maisara Soliman, who was nominated by an Austrian party to run in the European Parliament elections, was previously contacted by the Immigration minister.

“When we have a young man abroad who could reach such a stage in the European Parliament elections and add weight to Egypt, we must support him,” Makram said.
