China discovered two fatalities in water channels that overflowed due to heavy rains in Beijing, as reported by the official Chinese media on Monday.

The English-language newspaper "People's Daily" stated, "During an emergency patrol this morning, two individuals were found in water channels," indicating that "their vital signs had ceased."

This incident coincides with Beijing authorities issuing the highest level of flood and landslide warnings for the capital city amidst the persistent heavy rainfall.

According to an official memo, large parts of the suburbs are facing the risk of collapses, landslides, and mudslides, leading to the issuance of a red alert for floods.

The heavy rains were triggered by Typhoon "Doksuri," which caused at least six fatalities in the Philippines. The tropical storm reached northern China on Friday after its strength diminished.

The meteorological department in Beijing reported that 170.9 mm of rainfall poured down on the capital during a 40-hour period from Saturday evening to Monday morning, nearly equaling the average rainfall for the entire month of July.

Since the catastrophic floods in central China in 2011, where over 300 people, mostly in the major city of Zhengzhou, lost their lives, the Chinese authorities have maintained a high level of caution during periods of heavy rainfall.
