Two 2 Million Citizens Benefit from Treatment Funded by State During 2022

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, revealed the position of treatment at the expense of the state.

He explained that the number of beneficiaries from this umbrella in 2022 reached about 2 million patients, with 3.5 million decisions, in specialities including internal medicine, tumours, bones, brain and nerves, surgery, and blood, eye, and skin diseases, at a cost of about 14.4 billion pounds.

The minister presented the position of implementing the presidential initiative to end the waiting lists.

He revealed that doctors conducted 1.6 million surgical procedures, 67 thousand treatment procedures, and the treatment of 30.8 thousand cases, through 466 hospitals nationwide, including 182 hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health, for 14.2 billion pounds.

The minister pointed out that the medical interventions within the presidential initiative included performing about 504,000 heart catheterizations, 69,000 open-heart surgeries, 86.3 thousand brain and nerve surgeries, 84.8 thousand joint surgeries, about 600 thousand ophthalmologic surgeries, 102.9 thousand oncology surgeries.

And the doctors conducted 954 operations of liver transplantation and 601 cases of kidney transplantation.
