Twitter Inc's (TWTR.N) website said late on Wednesday that services were back after being down for multiple users, according to outage monitoring website Downdetector.

On Thursday, Twitter suffered an outage with multiple users reporting issues while posting, searching and sharing content via the micro-blogging site.

The website did not indicate the problem which caused the outage. However, it acknowledged that profile tweets were not loading for some users and they immediately fixed it.

"Tweets should now be visible on profiles, but other parts of Twitter for web may not be loading for you. We're continuing to work on getting things back to normal," the social media site said in a tweet.

In another tweet, the company assured users that the services are back and apologized for the "interruption".

Downdetector tracks outages by collating status reports from a series of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform.

Notably, the social media firm had faced a similar 'brief' outage in April this year.

Meanwhile, the government and the website have been in a state of disagreement for the last few months over various issues, including statements made by company officials about the freedom of speech in India.
