Turkish Foreign Minister (FM) Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Wednesday that Turkish troops are in Libya for training purposes only.

In his word before the World Economic Forum (WEF) held in Davos city, Çavuşoğlu stressed his country’s support for Head of Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez al-Sarraj.

"We do not have a large military presence there," he said. "We are ready to cooperate with all allies in Libya to reach a continuous truce.”

It is worth mentioning that, the activities of WEF kicked off yesterday, Tuesday.

The three-day forum brings together a number of heads of state and government, ministers, senior economic decision-makers, and representatives of major international companies and international organizations.

The economic event aims at enhancing international cooperation and increasing partnership between the government and private sectors to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The forum’s program includes 7 main themes: overcoming environmental challenges that threaten our world nowadays, society and the future of work, employing technology to serve people, better business activities, better health future, geopolitical issues, fairer economies and addressing the problem of “Inequality in wealth.”

Analysts considered that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received a “terrible defeat” over his plans in Libya as the world leaders who gathered in Berlin for a summit on Libya reaffirmed their commitment to respect the arms embargo to this country and denounced sending foreign fighters to take part at the battles there.
