SEE- July14: Turkish Presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin announced today that the state of emergency is to be lifted within days.

Kalin told reporters in Ankara that President Recceb Tayyeb Erdogan is not intending to extend the current state of emergency which ends Thursday.

The Presidential spokesman hinted that lifting the state of emergency might slow down the pace of the fight against terrorism, but that fight will continue, ruled by the counter-terrorism laws.

According to Amnesty International, freedom of expression and the right to a fair trial had been decimated under the state of emergency which was applied after a failed coup on July 15th 2016.

More than 1,300 associations and foundations have been shut down according to reports.
