Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced on Sunday that Turkey is hopeful for the commencement of ceasefire discussions in Ukraine soon.

Speaking after a diplomatic forum in Antalya, a southern city in Turkey, Fidan emphasized the necessity of initiating dialogue aimed at halting hostilities in Ukraine.

He stated, "A dialogue to cease the fighting in Ukraine must begin." Fidan further elaborated that issues regarding sovereignty and ceasefire should be deliberated independently.

Turkey is positioning itself as a mediator between Russia and Ukraine amidst the ongoing crisis, leveraging its favorable ties with both nations.

Previously, Turkey has facilitated discussions between the two countries at the onset of the crisis.

Moreover, Istanbul, in collaboration with the United Nations, brokered a deal that enabled the export of Ukrainian grains through the Black Sea.
