Tunisia Health Ministry announced 34 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 394, including 10 deaths.

On Tuesday, the Tunisian government extended a lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus by two weeks to April 19.

Moreover, Tunisian President Kais Saied called for accelerating the implementation of the measures "with more precision and to modify the methods of work adopted in order to avoid shortcomings detected during the past period," according to a presidency statement.

The president assured the Tunisians of the state's determination to spare no effort to meet their fundamental expectations.

It is worth mentioning that, several Arab countries have tightened restrictions on movement and travel, with the aim of curbing the spread of the Coronavirus, and some have pledged billions of dollars in economic stimulus programs to reduce the economic repercussions of the crisis.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global pandemic as the new virus has rapidly spread to more than 121,000 people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.

More cases of the virus, which causes respiratory disease COVID-19, continue to emerge, with outbreaks in South Korea, Italy, and Iran.

Transmission of virus between humans happens when someone comes into contact with an infected person’s secretions, such as droplets in a cough.

It can also be transmitted by coming into contact with something an infected person has touched and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes.

It is known that older people appear to be more vulnerable to the effects of the emerging virus.

People across the globe partake in self-isolation for 14 days as an effective precautionary measure to protect those around them and themselves from contracting COVID-19.
