The Tunisian Football Federation has unveiled the national team’s preparation program for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be staged in the United States, Mexico, and Canada next summer, with a series of high-profile international friendlies lined up.
As part of their build-up, Tunisia will play four friendly matches against varied opposition.
The Eagles of Carthage will face Haiti on March 28 in Canada, followed by a meeting with Canada on March 31, also on Canadian soil.
Preparations will continue in Europe, where Tunisia are scheduled to play Austria on June 1 before concluding the series with a prestigious clash against Belgium on June 6 in Brussels.
The friendly schedule is designed to test Tunisia against different footballing styles and raise the team’s competitive readiness ahead of the expanded World Cup.
In parallel with the announcement of the preparation program, the Tunisian Football Federation confirmed the appointment of Sabri Lamouchi as head coach of the senior national team, with a contract extending until 2028.
The move comes as part of a broader rebuilding strategy aimed at restoring stability and competitiveness to the national side.
In an official statement, the federation said Lamouchi accepted the role following discussions with officials and agreed to revised financial terms, demonstrating his commitment to the long-term development of Tunisian football.
Lamouchi replaces Sami Trabelsi, who was dismissed after Tunisia’s disappointing exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Tunisia were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Mali on penalties, following a 1-1 draw after extra time at Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
The early exit sparked widespread fan frustration, with the team returning home on a commercial flight amid criticism over performances.
With a new coach in place and a demanding friendly schedule ahead, Tunisia will be hoping to turn the page and build momentum on the road to the 2026 World Cup.
