Tunisian President Kais Saied has officially announced October 6, 2024, as the date for the country's next presidential elections.
This follows a presidential decree inviting Tunisian voters to participate in the pivotal electoral process.
In February, the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) indicated that the presidential elections were expected to be held in the last quarter of this year.
President Saied reaffirmed this timeline during a meeting with Farouk Bouasker, the head of ISIE, emphasizing that the elections would occur as scheduled.
A statement from the Tunisian presidency highlighted the administration’s commitment to adhering to all electoral timelines, from the referendum to the election of members of the House of Representatives and local councils.
The statement reiterated President Saied’s commitment to ensuring that "all upcoming elections, including the presidential election, will be held on time."
