Tunisia: President Kais Saied Dismisses 2 Ministers

On Monday, Tunisian President Kais Saied relieved the Ministers of Finance, Communication Technologies and Agriculture from their posts.

Ali Al-Kaali was removed from his position as minister of Economy, Finance, and Investment Support. Instead, Saied assigned Siham Al-Boughdiri Nomsieh to run the ministry.

Furthermore, the president relieved Mohamed Al-Fadil Karim from his duties as Minister of Communication Technologies and as Acting Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources,

Accordingly, he assigned Nizar Bennaji to run the Ministry of Communication Technologies.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi agreed with Algerian Foreign Minster Ramdane Lamamra on full support for the Tunisian President.

On July 25, the Tunisian President sacked Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi and suspended parliament for 30 days. In this sense, the country had witnessed huge protests over the government’s handling of the Covid crisis.

The president also ordered a crackdown on 460 businessmen suspected of corruption as well as an investigation into the “illegal funding” of parties.
