Tunisia and debutants Mauritania played out a goalless draw allowing Eagles of Carthage to move into the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The result means Eagles of Carthage finished second in Group E to set up a tasty meeting with Ghana's Black Stars on Monday, July 8 at Ismailia stadium.

The Lions of Chinguetti came closest to upsetting Eagles of Carthage after only nineteen minutes through Sidi El Hacen's header from the center of the box missed to the right.

In the 38th minute, Tunisia's keeper Mouez Hassen was brought into action as his save denied debutantes Mauritania from getting in front when Forward Bessam right footed a shot from the center of the box.

One minute later, Tunisia's midfielder Ellyes Skhiri responded through a right-foot shot from the center of the box, but was kept away by Mauritania's keeper Brahim Souleymane.

In a search for a solution, Tunisia coach Alain Giresse introduced forward Taha Khenissi at the beginning of the second half, who was so close to hitting Mauritania's net through a header from the center of the box.

In the 79th minute, Tunisia's forward Youssef Msakni tried to put his side ahead through a left-foot shot from Mauritania's penalty area, but it was saved by keeper Souleymane.
