WASHINGTON, Mar. 30 (SEE)- U.S. President Donald Trump is on the brink of closing borders with Mexico, unless the latter stops immigrants from entering the United States, Reuters reported.

Mr. Trump tipped off his intentions to reporters, whilst at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, saying that it “will be just fine” with him.

Since assuming office, President Trump has repeatedly threatened of shutting borders, yet words have never lived up into action.

Though, what strengthens Mr. Trump’s current position is that the U.S. government couldn’t handle asylum seekers, fleeing Central America through Mexico.

Border closure would instantly paralyze legal commerce, halting billions of dollars from America. Besides, legal immigration procedures would be held up.

Warnings, declared by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), stated that traffic in-between both countries could linger as 750 border personnels would be transferred to aid in ordering runaways at legitimate crossing points.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen noted, in a statement, that American citizens “may feel effects from this emergency,” including “commercial delays, higher vehicle wait times at the border, and longer pedestrian lines.”

Reuters reported that officials, including Secretary Nielsen, were “overwhelmed” of the ample surge of escapees scampering “violence and economic hardship in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala.”

Meanwhile, Trump is doing his best to get the Congress ink a revamped trade deal with Mexico and Canada, which was settled by his adminstrations in 2018.

To Mr. Trump, combating illegal immigration is a top security priority, as he wholeheartedly believes that Mexico is an open door for rapists and drug dealers to sneak into America.

Albeit, all the president’s attempts to convince the Congress to secure money for building a southern border wall have flopped with no deal.
