United States (US) President Donald Trump has announced that he would postpone the G7 summit, scheduled for next month until September.

Speaking to reporters, Trump added that he wants to expand the group to include Australia, Russia, South Korea, and India.

Trump explained that the G7, which groups the world’s most advanced economies, is a “very outdated group of countries” in its current format.

“I’m postponing it because I don’t feel that as a G7 it properly represents what’s going on in the world,” Trump continued.

It is worth mentioning that, the G7 groups the United States, Britain, France, Japan, Germany, Italy, and Canada, and the European Union also attends.

Thousands of protesters have been arrested by US police since the protests erupted over killing a black man by a white policeman in Minneapolis.

The US authorities arrested about 1,400 protesters in 17 states due to the unlicensed protests and riots that erupted after killing George Floyd, according to AP.

The protests left one killed and others injured.
