US President Donald Trump told reporters aboard a plane heading to Qatar that he had informed Israel of the lifting of sanctions on Syria.
In response to a question about his meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Ahmed al-Sharaa, on the sidelines of the Gulf-US summit, he commented, "The Syrian president is fantastic and has a good opportunity. Sharaa has a chance to run the country, and we hope they will join the Abraham Accords. We have a lot to consider."
