US President Donald Trump has announced sweeping new travel restrictions targeting citizens from 19 countries, set to take effect from 12:01 a.m. EST on Monday, June 9.

According to an official presidential proclamation, full entry bans will be enforced for nationals of twelve countries: Afghanistan, Burma (Myanmar), Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.

These individuals will be prohibited from entering the United States under the new directive.

In addition, citizens from seven other nations — Burundi, Venezuela, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, and Turkmenistan — will face partial travel restrictions. The limitations will affect specific visa categories, though exact details vary by country.

The proclamation clarifies that all US visas issued before the ban's enforcement date will remain valid, ensuring that currently held travel documents are not retroactively impacted.
