Former US President Donald Trump has claimed that the United States possesses a “secret sonic weapon” unlike anything held by other countries, alleging it was used during a recent operation targeting Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
Speaking in an interview with NewsNation, Trump said the weapon was deployed during a US raid earlier this month that led to the capture of Maduro.
He offered no technical details, stating that it was “probably good not to talk about it,” while insisting the US has advanced weapons that “nobody else knows about.”
Trump described the operation as “an amazing attack” and suggested Americans should be concerned about the power of such weapons when asked directly during the interview.
However, he did not clarify how the alleged sonic device works or whether it played a direct role in casualties reported during the raid.
The Trump administration has accused Maduro of trafficking drugs into the United States, an allegation strongly denied by the Venezuelan government.
Venezuela’s interior minister said the assault on Maduro’s compound resulted in at least 100 deaths, though it remains unclear whether those deaths were linked to any unconventional weapon.
Trump’s comments have drawn international attention, with Russia calling on Washington to provide further clarification.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russian intelligence services were analyzing the statements and seeking more information about the claimed weapon.
No independent evidence has been presented to confirm the existence or use of the alleged “secret sonic weapon,” and US officials have not released further details.
