U.S. President Donald Trump has officially entered the next phase of his Gaza peace initiative, announcing the formation of a high-level "Peace Council" to oversee the region's transition. The move signals a major shift in U.S. policy, focusing on a "peace through strength" approach to rebuild the war-torn sector.

In a comprehensive statement issued in his capacity as head of the newly established council, Trump praised the recently appointed Palestinian technocratic government and the administrative committee tasked with governing Gaza during this transitional period. He described the new leadership as being "steadfastly committed to a peaceful future."

A Shift to Governance and Reconstruction Trump highlighted that the current ceasefire has enabled his team to deliver "unprecedented and record-breaking" levels of humanitarian aid to Gaza's civilians at a historic pace. This success, he noted, has paved the way for the political transition.

Under the new plan, the Palestinian technocratic government will work alongside a High Representative from the Peace Council to manage Gaza's internal affairs. This administration is expected to focus on rebuilding infrastructure—including sites like Al-Shifa Hospital—and restoring essential services.

Ultimatum to Hamas: "The Easy Way or the Hard Way" Despite the focus on reconstruction, the President delivered a stern message to Hamas. He demanded the "immediate" fulfillment of all obligations, specifically the return of the remains of the last Israeli captive and the total, unconditional disarmament of the group.

Trump revealed that the disarmament plan—which includes the destruction of all tunnels and the surrender of all weaponry—reportedly has the backing of regional powers, including Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar.

“Hamas can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Trump warned. “The people of Gaza have suffered enough. The time is now.”

The "Greatest Council Ever Assembled" In a separate post on Truth Social, the President expressed immense pride in the new diplomatic body. "It is my great honor to announce that the Peace Council has been formed," Trump wrote. "The members will be announced soon, but I can say with certainty it is the greatest and most prestigious council ever assembled anywhere."

As international attention turns to "the day after" in Gaza, Trump’s Peace Council represents a bold attempt to redefine the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East through direct American-led administrative oversight.
