U.S. President Donald Trump said he has accepted an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Beijing next April.
The American newspaper The New York Times reported that the invitation came during a phone call between the two presidents this Monday morning.
During the call, they discussed a number of sensitive bilateral and geopolitical issues, including China's low purchases of American soybeans, in addition to the status of the war in Ukraine and the Taiwan issue.
The call took place weeks after a summit between the American and Chinese presidents in South Korea, where the two sides reached a one-year truce that lifted many of the tariffs Trump had imposed on China, as well as the retaliatory measures that Beijing had implemented at the time.
