Canadian Prime Minister (PM) Justin Trudeau wrapped up his visit to the United Kingdom (UK) with a meeting with British Prime Minister (PM) Boris Johnson.

During their meeting, Trudeau discussed the growing international consensus against the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, announcing that Canada would impose new sanctions on 10 inpiduals involved in Russia's military operation.

Moreover, both leaders agreed to seek further mutual support for Ukraine through the provision of humanitarian and military assistance.

Trudeau affirmed that Canada was the first country to recently rescind Russia and Belarus' priority-of-care status as a trading partner, imposing a 35% tariff rate on almost all imported goods from the two countries.

In addition, he stressed that Canada is ready to help the UK replace key supply chains that have been disrupted by sanctions against Russia and Belarus.

Trudeau also reiterated Canada's support for the UK to join The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and welcomed progress toward launching bilateral trade negotiations and job creation in both countries.

It is worth mentioning that, Russian-Ukrainian war entered its twelfth day in a row, after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launching of military operations on Ukraine, on the morning of February 24.

European, Western and American countries imposed huge economic sanctions on Russia, and those sanctions also targeted Moscow’s leaders, led by President Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
