A truck crashed into the security barriers on Lafayette Square in near the White House. The driver of the truck was detained, according to a US Secret Service spokesperson.
"There were no injuries to any Secret Service or White House staff, and the cause of the collision and how it occurred is still under investigation," Anthony Guglielmi, the Secret Service's liaison officer, said on Twitter.
The Secret Service announced the closure of some roads.Fox 5 TV news reported that the nearby High Adams Hotel was evacuated.
The Secret Service did not mention whether US President Joe Biden was in the White House when the accident occurred.
