Saudi Pro League clubs have stepped up efforts to sign Mohamed Salah, as fresh competition emerges from Europe with Fenerbahce entering the race to secure the Liverpool star’s signature ahead of the summer transfer window.
Reports indicate that Al-Ittihad has initiated preliminary talks to explore the possibility of completing a high-profile deal. The move aligns with the club’s broader strategy to strengthen its squad with world-class talent and boost its chances of competing for major titles next season.
The Saudi club’s interest comes at a time when it is also considering squad changes, including the potential departure of French winger Moussa Diaby, who has attracted interest from Inter Milan. Such developments could open the door for a major signing like Salah.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce has intensified its pursuit and is currently viewed as one of the most active contenders. According to reports, club representatives have already held multiple meetings with Salah’s agents, signaling serious intent to bring the Egyptian forward to Turkey.
The growing interest follows increasing expectations that Salah could leave Liverpool FC at the end of the season, a scenario that has attracted attention from several clubs across different leagues. Fenerbahce, however, appears to be moving quickly to position itself at the front of the race.
Any potential deal remains complex, largely due to Salah’s significant salary, reportedly around £333,000 per week, placing him among the highest-paid players in global football. This financial factor is expected to play a decisive role in negotiations.
Salah’s legacy at Liverpool remains firmly established. He ranks third on the club’s all-time scoring list with 257 goals in 440 appearances and has won the Premier League Golden Boot four times. He also played a central role in Liverpool’s domestic league triumphs in 2019–2020 and 2024–2025, as well as the club’s victory in the 2019 UEFA Champions League.
