In a bid to Egypt's Tourism, the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, organized a workshop at the Ministry of Tourisms' headquarters in the New Administrative Capital for representatives of Egyptian tourism companies and hotel establishments operating in the Chinese market.
The workshop was attended by Mr. Amr El-Kady, CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, Minister Plenipotentiary Zhang Chaoyang, representative of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Cairo, and Professor Wolfgang George, an expert in Chinese tourism studies, President of the China outbound tourism research institution, and Editor-in-Chief of COTRI magazine, which supports the Authority.
Al-Qadi inaugurated the workshop by welcoming the attendees and highlighting the Ministry and the Authority's interest in the Chinese market. This market is a key target for increasing tourist traffic to Egypt. He discussed the activities and promotional strategies pursued by the Authority to attract more Chinese tourists and encouraged Egyptian companies to do more to increase tourist traffic from this market. He also emphasized the Authority's support for Egyptian companies and hotels as partners in the tourism industry.
Minister Plenipotentiary Zhang Chaoyang also delivered a welcome speech, praising the Ministry's interest in the Chinese market and the authority's participation in various Chinese events held in Egypt or organized by the Chinese Embassy in Cairo. These events include tourism exhibitions and workshops held in the People's Republic of China, reflecting the keen interest in attracting Chinese tourists.
During the workshop, Professor Wolfgang discussed various points to enhance the understanding of those working in the Chinese market about the requirements of Chinese tourists. This included the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on Chinese tourism demand, the countries that attract Chinese tourists, and the factors influencing their decision-making when planning tourism outside China.
Representatives from tourism companies and hotels asked several questions aimed at understanding how to attract the largest number of Chinese tourists to Egypt and leverage modern technology, such as artificial intelligence, in promoting their tourism programs.
