Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled El Anany asserted that the numbers of tourists visiting Egypt, which were announced during a press conference, indicated that Egypt could witness an exceptional tourist season, the highest in the country's history.

Anany pointed out that the numbers of tourists were real, according to the data of the embassies and airports.

The minister was speaking on the sidelines of his inspection tour of some archaeological sites, including Baron Empain Palace, Al Moez Ldin Allah Al Fatmi Street, and the Pyramids Plateau following the extreme weather events which hit the country on Thursday and Friday.

He denied that Egypt closed any archaeological site or tourist attraction due to the coronavirus outbreak, describing such reports as groundless.
