This week, the Tour of Africa 2024 "Bicycle Trip" was launched in front of the Giza Pyramids under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion.

The trip, organized by Marassi Tourism Company in collaboration with the Upward team, will take approximately 13 days within Egyptian territory. During this time, participants will pass through several archaeological and tourist sites in the governorates of Cairo, Giza, Suez, the Red Sea, Qena, Luxor, and Aswan, ultimately reaching the Sudanese border through the Wadi Halfa port. The journey lasts for three months and includes around 50 cyclists from various countries, such as Egypt, America, Canada, Germany, France, and Italy.

In addition, the 31st session of the Egypt International Marathon began on Friday morning in Luxor. The marathon, with the participation of over 100 competitors from different European and Arab countries, started in front of the Temple of Hatshepsut in Deir el-Bahri and went through the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Medinet Habu, and the Colossi of Memnon before returning again to the Temple of Hatshepsut.

Iman Abdel Rahman, Director General of the General Administration of Tourism Awareness, emphasized the Authority's dedication to sponsoring these events as part of its strategy to promote Egypt's tourism industry. The Tour of Africa trip and the Egypt International Marathon are both important components of Egypt's tourism products, which include sports tourism, cultural tourism, beach tourism, adventure tourism, family tourism, and recreational tourism.
