Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the signing of Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid, the club confirmed on Wednesday after completing all international clearance procedures.

The 25-year-old midfielder has signed a long-term contract with Spurs and will wear the No. 22 shirt for the North London side.

According to English media reports, the deal cost Tottenham around €40 million.

Gallagher expressed his delight at joining the club, saying, “I’m very happy and extremely excited to be here and to take the next step in my career with such a great club. I really wanted to play for Tottenham, and thankfully the feeling was mutual. Everything happened very quickly, and I’m ready to get out on the pitch.”

He added, “I know how amazing Tottenham’s fans are, and I’m delighted to be part of this club. I’m looking forward to creating special moments and memories together.”

Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank praised the signing, stating, “Conor is an outstanding midfielder, and we worked hard to bring him in. Despite his young age, he has significant experience in the Premier League, La Liga, and with the England national team.”

Frank continued: “His leadership qualities and experience will add a lot to the dressing room, along with his physical strength, pressing ability, and goal threat. He strengthens us in a very important position. I’m excited to work with him, and I’m confident the fans will love what he brings to the team.”

Gallagher began his professional career at Chelsea, progressing through the youth ranks before being promoted to the first team during the 2018–2019 season, when he was part of the squad that won the UEFA Europa League.

He then enjoyed successful loan spells with Charlton Athletic, Swansea City, and West Bromwich Albion, before making a major impact during his loan at Crystal Palace in the 2021–2022 season. He made 39 appearances, scored eight goals, and was named the club’s Player of the Season.

After returning to Chelsea, Gallagher became a regular across all competitions and wore the captain’s armband during the 2023–2024 season, contributing to 16 goals in 50 appearances.

In August 2024, he joined Atletico Madrid, where he played 77 matches and scored seven goals. He also featured in the UEFA Champions League, scoring a historic goal against Real Madrid after just 27 seconds, becoming the first English player to score in the Madrid derby and the fastest English goalscorer in Champions League history.
