Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Dutch midfielder Chavi Simons, 23, has undergone successful surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee following a serious injury suffered in the Premier League.
Simons picked up the injury during Tottenham’s narrow 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, a match in which he was forced off after sustaining damage to his knee. Medical assessments later confirmed a torn ACL, requiring immediate surgical intervention.
The club issued an official statement confirming the operation went as planned and shared an image of the player in hospital, expressing full support as he begins his recovery journey. Tottenham said they will stand by Simons “every step of the way” as he starts a long rehabilitation process.
ACL injuries typically require several months of recovery, meaning Simons is expected to face an extended spell on the sidelines.
The setback also comes at a significant time internationally, with the Netherlands preparing for upcoming major tournaments, where they are set to compete in Group F alongside Sweden, Tunisia, and Japan. They will begin their campaign against Japan on June 14 in Dallas.
Tottenham will now focus on managing their midfield options while the player undergoes his recovery program, with no confirmed timeline yet for his return to action.
