Tottenham Hotspur marked the official opening of Egypt’s Grand Egyptian Museum with a celebratory post ahead of their highly anticipated Premier League match against Chelsea.

The club’s official Facebook page shared an image of Tottenham players standing before the statue of Ramses II, accompanied by the caption:

“From the land of civilization to a fiery London derby. On the day of the Grand Egyptian Museum’s opening—our goal: three points against Chelsea.”

The post drew attention for blending cultural appreciation with sporting spirit, as fans praised the gesture linking one of Egypt’s greatest historical landmarks with one of football’s fiercest rivalries.

Earlier this week, Tottenham were eliminated from the Carabao Cup after a 2–0 defeat to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, with Fabian Schär and Nick Woltemade scoring for the hosts.

Tottenham had reached the fourth round after a 3–0 victory over Doncaster Rovers, and the club boasts a strong history in the competition, having lifted the trophy four times, most recently in 2008.

Newcastle’s win came following their 2–1 Premier League triumph over Fulham, their fourth victory in five matches, which lifted them to 12th place in the standings with 12 points from nine games.
