Tokyo Olympics: Egypt's U-23 Qualification Scenarios

Despite losing to Argentina in Tokyo Olympics group stage , the Young Pharaohs still have chances of qualifying for the tournament’s final stages.

Egypt sit in the 4th place of Group c, with three points from a possible 2. They were held to a 0-0 draw in their opening match against Spain, before losing 1-0 to Argentina. The Pharaohs are three points behind Spain.

The top two teams of each group qualify to the competition’s final stages,

 The following scenarios are all assuming a win against Mali.

Scenario 1 – Spain win, Egypt qualify:

If Spain won their match against Argentina, and the Pharaohs clinched a victory against Australia then the Egyptian team will claim the second spot in the group and qualify for the final stages.

Scenario 2 – Argentina win, Egypt qualify if they have advantage on goals: 

If Argentina defeated Spain, the Egyptians will qualify in the second place but they need to score more than two clean goals against Australia.
