TikTok launched more audience controls for creators, which enable them to restrict their content to adults over 18.

The tech giant allowed creators to restrict content in TikTok Live, meaning that some livestreams wouldn't show up on the “For You” pages of minor users.

Meanwhile, TikTok offered the same control option for short-form videos. This feature will continue to expand globally in the coming weeks.

The platform will also remove any content that violates its community guidelines and continue to educate creators on these policies.

"Our goal has always been to make sure our community, especially teens on our platform, have a safe, positive and joyful experience when they come to TikTok," the company said in a post.

"We've already taken significant strides to help ensure their feeds are full of content that is appropriate for them, and these improvements mark an important next step to meet that goal."

On a seprate note, TikTok will be banned on almost all devices issued by the US federal government after lawmakers passed a $1.70 trillion spending bill.

As reported by Engadget, the Biden administration has until February 2023 to apply the rules that will ban the platform from devices managed by the federal government.

“The legislation requires the Biden administration to establish rules to remove TikTok from government devices by mid-February,” the statement read. “The bill carved out exceptions for elected officials, congressional staff, law enforcement agents and other officials.”
