Tigres UANL to Club World Cup Semi-finals After Edging Ulsan

CONCACAF champion Tigres UANL of Mexico achieved Thursday an important 2-1 victory over their South Korean AFC Champions League champion Ulsan Hyundai, in the opening match of the Club World Cup.

Ulsan Hyundai's Kim Ki-hee opened the scoring in the 24th minute of the match.

Frenchman André-Pierre Gignac of Tegres UANL then scored the equalizer in the 38th minute, before adding the second personal goal for him and his team from a penalty kick in the 45th minute right before the end of the 1st half.

Winning this clash, Tigres UANL qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals, and have set a date with Copa Libertadores champion Palmeiras of Brazil, scheduled next Sunday.

Ulsan Hyundai will play against the loser of Egypt's Al Ahly vs Qatar's Al Duhail clash, over fifth and sixth positions, next Sunday.
