Tigray state’s government announced on Saturday that the two missile strikes on Ethiopian sites came in response to airstrikes by the federal government on the northern Tigray region, according to Sputnik News agency.
It added that the strikes targeted military bases.
It is worth mentioning that, late Friday, huge explosions hit two cities in Ethiopia’s Amhara state, which lies near the northern state of Tigray where federal troops are fighting local forces.
The blasts took place in Bahir Dar and Gondar cities, according to Reuters.
The airport in Gondar in Amhara state was damaged by what the government called rocket fire.
