In a tragic incident on Friday, three people lost their lives while 14 others were pulled alive from the wreckage after two buildings collapsed in Cairo’s Hadaeq Al Qubbah district. Emergency rescue operations continue as authorities work tirelessly to locate any remaining survivors.
According to a statement from the Cairo Governorate, civil defense teams spent more than seven hours combing through the debris to successfully rescue a young girl, who was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Her rescue raised the number of survivors to 14.

As of now, three bodies have been recovered from the collapsed buildings, with search efforts still ongoing. The buildings, one of which consisted of a ground floor and five stories, had been unoccupied, while the other had four floors. Additionally, another building was evacuated as a precautionary measure until its structural safety could be confirmed.
The Cairo Governorate’s National Emergency and Public Safety Network, along with the Central Operations Room, were immediately alerted to the collapse. Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber arrived on-site, accompanied by emergency services, medical teams, and security forces, to supervise the search and rescue operations.
"Efforts are still underway to ensure no more individuals are trapped beneath the rubble," the governorate said in a statement.
The cause of the collapse remains under investigation, though authorities are working closely with engineering teams to assess the stability of nearby buildings. As the city mourns the loss of life, emergency teams continue to search with hope, determined to find any additional survivors.
This incident serves as a somber reminder of the challenges faced by urban infrastructure in rapidly growing cities, where building safety and regulations remain critical for preventing such tragedies.
