Around 10,000 protestors gathered in the Austrian capital "Vienna" on Saturday to protest against the restrictions imposed due to coronavirus, calling on the government and Chancellor Sebastian Kurz to resign.

Waving Austrian flags, most demonstrators refused to wear masks or respect the rules of social distancing, including far-right politician and former vice-chancellor Heinz Christian Strach.

There was also a counter-demonstration organized by the far left, denouncing the "anti-mask protest".

All non-essential businesses, including stores, concert halls, theaters, sports centers and schools went to their third lockdown since March in an effort to control the pandemic.

Medical advisers suggested making it mandatory to work from home and to extend the lockdown as planned, as a huge number of cases are showing no sign of recovery.

Until now, Austria has reported a total of 7,053 deaths since the outbreak of the deadly virus.
