Thousands of Israelis joined the protests, demanding a deal to release hostages still held in Gaza, holding early elections and the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to the British newspaper The Guardian.
The major protests came amid renewed fighting in Gaza, as Israeli forces advanced for the first time towards the center of Rafah, the southernmost part of the Strip, and launched operations in several northern areas where violent clashes had previously occurred.
Israel has witnessed weekly protests since the beginning of the war last October amid strong criticism of Netanyahu's coalition government, which includes far-right ministers.
The demonstrators carried a banner reading, “Let every Israeli father remember that they put their children’s lives in the hands of Netanyahu,” while hundreds gathered outside the prime minister’s private home.
