Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, witnessed the press conference to announce the details of the first modern pentathlon world cup series tournaments for men and women.
The tournament is hosted by Egypt and 150 players from 35 countries participate in the tournament.
The conference was attended by Dr. Klaus Schürmann, President of the International Modern Pentathlon Federation, Sherif El-Erian, President of the Egyptian Modern Pentathlon Federation and Vice President of the International Federation, Dr. Ehab Abdel Rahman, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the American University, Dr. Jurgen Marcel, Dean of the American University, and Eng. Al-Bassel Abdullah, member of the Egyptian Olympic Committee.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, said that Egypt hosts many sports tournaments. It has succeeded in organizing 295 world championships over the past years, becoming the most country in the world to host sports tournaments despite challenges.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhy praised the achievements of the Egyptian Pentathlon Federation at the level of hosting international tournaments, and the international participation of Egyptian players.
Dr. Klaus Schürmann, President of the International Modern Pentathlon Federation, said: "We are happy to be here again for the second year, and I hope that next year's edition will be held at the American University, and this year's Senior World Cup Series is the beginning of the road to qualify for the next Olympics in Paris next year, and I would like to thank Egypt and the Egyptian Modern Pentathlon Federation for organizing this important annual opening of this season."
He added: "As I always say, sport is the easiest way to peace, and I congratulate all women volunteers and players on the occasion of International Women's Day, we hope that the sport of modern pentathlon will be in constant development, and I always say to the players do not pay attention to politics, but focus on your sports performance, our goal is not only sports, but education and education, sport is a way to find peace."
