Lebanese television producer Sadek Sabbah shared an update on Egyptian actress Menna Shalaby's TV series "Taaghere Gaw" following her recent legal trouble.

“We filmed a part of the series and are currently completing filming the second part in preparation for screening it next Ramadan,” Sabbah said in a statement to "ET Bil Arabi".

He affirmed that Shalaby will continue to star in the project as there is nothing that hinders her participation.

Shalaby made headlines recently after being arrested by Cairo International Airport's authorities for finding 12 bags of marijuana in her luggage, on November 25, 2022.

She had a breakdown in front of the investigation, saying: "I do not know about these drugs, it is not mine."

Hours later, Shalaby was released on EGP 50,000 bail pending investigation, with the prosecution ordering the seized substances to be tested.

In December, the prosecution revealed that the assigned chemical laboratory's examination of the seized substances proved that they "contained two narcotics – namely hash and cannabis – both of which fall under the Drug List I of the country's drugs law."

In this regard, the actress was charged with "possessing hash narcotic with the intent of using it without legal authorization."

On January 5, a Cairo criminal court issued a one-year suspended prison sentence against Shalaby for possessing marijuana, in addition to a 10,000 EGP fine.
