In a unified effort to support Egypt’s digital transformation, the Embassies of Finland, Japan, Sweden, the United States, and the Delegation of the European Union in Egypt hosted the Egypt 5G Forum in Cairo, to bring together senior Egyptian government officials, global telecommunications leaders, and international policymakers to promote trusted vendors and secure infrastructure for the rollout of 5G technology in Egypt.

In close collaboration with Egypt’s ICT Ministry, the Forum served as a platform for strategic dialogue and exchange. H.E. This joint effort marks a milestone in multilateral cooperation between Egypt and a coalition of countries committed to secure, high-quality 5G deployment. The Forum reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that Egypt’s digital infrastructure is both resilient and future-ready. Through public-private partnerships, technical expertise, and ongoing engagement, the five organizing partners are supporting Egypt’s ambitions under Vision 2030.

Ambassador of the European Delegation, Angelina Eichhorst, said, “Egypt’s transition to 5G is not just a technological upgrade, it’s a strategic leap toward becoming a regional digital hub. The European Union is proud to stand alongside Egypt as a reliable partner in the area of digital transformation, supporting efforts to build secure, inclusive, and resilient infrastructure aligned with international standards.”

Finnish Ambassador, Riikka Eela, said, “Finland was one of the first countries where commercial 5G networks were built. Based on our experience, close cooperation between authorities, safe network providers, and telecommunication operators is pivotal to ensure secure and effective connectivity for the end-users.”

Swedish Ambassador, H.E. Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt said, “In our joint efforts to achieve trusted connectivity, we must remember that cyber security will never be achieved without a secure digital infrastructure.”

U.S. Senior Advisor to the President for Africa and for Arab and Middle East Affairs Massad Boulos said: “President Trump has been very clear that mutually beneficial trade and investment are a top priority - particularly in critical and emerging technologies such as 5G which will provide the backbone of the global economy over the next decade and will power economic growth and prosperity for companies and societies around the world. The United States is committed to supporting our companies and trusted vendors as we work together to make 5G a reality in Egypt, putting security and mutual prosperity at the forefront of everything we do together.”

The Japanese Representative, Mr. NOMURA Eigo, Director – General for International Affairs, Global Strategy Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication (MIC) said, “A particularly important pillar of our cooperation is the promotion of trusted network in 5G including collaboration with like-minded countries. We firmly believe that today’s forum presents a valuable opportunity to advance this objective.”

Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, affirmed that the telecommunications sector pointed out that fifth-generation (5G) technology represents a qualitative leap that reshapes patterns of life, work, and communication.

Dr. Amr Talaat expressed his happiness at participating in this important forum, which brings together a select group of experts, policymakers, and innovators to explore the promising potential of 5G technology in Egypt and to discuss the opportunities and efforts being made to build a digital Egypt.
