The Commander of the Israeli Ground Forces Resigns from His Post

Hebrew media reported on Tuesday that the Commander of the Israeli Air Force, Tamir Yadai, resigned from his post for “personal reasons.” This comes as part of a new resignation sweeping the military leadership within the Israeli army since the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip, during which many military generals admitted their failure to contain this surprise attack launched by the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, on October 7.

The Hebrew newspaper “Walla” reported that Yadai informed Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi of his intention to resign in the coming weeks, and Defense Minister Yoav Galant approved the request.

The Jerusalem Post reported that the General Staff of the Israeli army has been on high alert recently due to the ongoing war, discussions about a prisoner exchange deal, and other expected changes within the General Staff.

Ydai was seen as a future candidate for the position of Deputy Chief of Staff. However, according to assessments, the current Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General Amir Baram, is not expected to end his term soon.

Yesh Atid MK Vladimir Beliak also issued a similar call, saying Netanyahu “must resign immediately” regardless of whether or not a formal commission of inquiry is formed to examine the events surrounding October 7.
