The American University in Cairo screened what perhaps could have been Egypt's most important match in decades. The Pharaohs took on World Cup hosts Russia in a match with very high stakes for both teams.

The event was attended by students and alumni who had the option of inviting their families and friends to witness what fans hoped to be Egypt's chance to qualify to the knockout phase out of group A. The event was organized by the AUC Alumni Facebook page with over 400 people attending.

The organization of the event was hands off great, the large screen was crystal clear, the seats were evenly organized in which people who came late could see the match, the coverage was very well, with the screen only lagging a few times, but over all the organization was close to perfect.

The atmosphere was very positive in the beginning with the attendance hoping Egypt would be able to pull off a victory that would increase their chances of qualifying to the next stage of the World world cup, but soon after the first Russian goal, which was scored by defender Ahmed Fathi scored as an own goal, the attendance doubted Egypt's ability to pull off the win, their hopes kept slipping after Russia's second and third goals, as aresult the crowd turned completely silent.

The crowd was relieved when Mohamed Salah scored a late penaltly in the 73rd minute that wasnt enough to keep the Egyptian's hopes alive as Egypt lost the match with three goals to one.
